I've journeyed down US-12 to and near Wamplers Lake many times, love the area and Hayes State Park. Signs for the abandoned Prehistoric Forest often got my attention. It opened in the 60's and closed 2002. Hiking trails around there are now getting a lot of use. You get great views of lakes, trees!
