Years ago I was cruising in the Howell area and was blown away by all the hot air balloons visioned in the sky. It was the annual Michigan Challenge Balloonfest.
It's happening the last weekend in June. You can take a picture next to a balloon and also with the pilot. Of course other things are offered at festivals including food and carnival rides.
It starts at Howell High School but can be see far away. I even saw one that drifted near Ann Arbor. Hopefully we have beautiful Michigan blue sky's then. More here.
