Michigan Flower Blooming For The First Time in 7 Years

A corpse flower also called Amorphophallus titanum is blooming again after seven years. Studied at Grand Valley State University and maintained in the Grand Valley Greenhouse it's making national news.

GVSU is known for being a creative University. The very rare plant was donated by Tim Strickler and the flower is native to Sumatra.

Christina Hipshier, is greenhouse supervisor, "It's beautiful; it's this deep burgundy when it opens up." Also, "And it's such an unusual shape. It's not something that you see every day." They even allow tours of their greenhouse. More here.
