Both new coaches got feisty as they fought for the best talent to join their team during Monday night’s premiere. While the fresh energy made for some great moments, veteran coaches Kelly Clarkson and Blake Shelton, who is celebrating his final season as a judge, weren’t about to let the new guys run the show.
“This is my last season, and I’m going out with a bang,” Shelton said. “I don’t care if these guys are new and I should be polite. Forget that. They’re going down.”
Per usual, the judges' bickering was half the fun, especially when it came to stand-out talents Neil Salsich and Ross Clayton who got the judges pleading their best cases to land their talent on their team.
While Country-crooning Ross decided to team with vet Shelton, Salsich (also a Country singer) ended up going with Niall after the former One Directioner spun the judges' chairs back around by walking up to each one and pressing the button.
"See how much power I've got around here? I can spin chairs. That's never been done," he exclaimed.
Catch the fun every Monday at 8/7C on NBC.
