A bunch of snowboarders and skiers got lost. The skiers and snowboarders ventured off of the trails and got lost. Killington Police Department commented, "Once out of the woods, those rescued warmed up in Killington Fire Department's Heavy Rescue truck and team members' personal vehicles as they awaited their rides."
Especially during this time of the year if you plan on doing some hiking it is best to stay on the trail, "Getting lost or injured in the backcountry could become tragic." See more here.
