Bring back the beach. Orchard Beach State Park sandy beach went away in 2017. Lake Michigan upper water levels were an issue. That is no longer an issue but the beach is. In 2020 Lake Michigan started receding. There is discussion about a possible project to restore it.
It still gets many visits because of the views according to park supervisor Doug Barry, "The biggest draw now is the sunsets, you're 100 feet above the water. Everyone gathers on the bluff to watch." More here.
