There are some beautiful rock formations not far away. Head over to Fitzgerald Park near Lansing in Grand Ledge. We have sandy soil and these ledges of course are made of sandstone.
It's is estimated that these go way back 300 million years and water helped establish them so include The Grand River. They extend 5 miles with great walking trails. Many things to do there including picnics, kids can enjoy playground, and if you have a kayak consider bringing it.
