6 Ways You Can Celebrate MLK Day

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a day to remember the sacrifices and teachings of Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and also an opportunity to give back to your community. This year, why not celebrate at one of these six events:
Enjoy open gym, swimming, meditation, African dance classes, painting and more at Anthony Bowen YMCA in NW, D.C. The event will begin at 11:15 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 20.
2. MLK Jr. Annual Wreath-Laying
Lay wreaths at the African American Civil War Memorial. This will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Monday Jan. 20.
Head to the American Visionary Art Museum in Baltimore for a day full of workshops, a poetry slam, performances, and cake! The event will be held Monday, Jan. 20 at 10 a.m.
Meet at MLK Jr., Ave. SE at 10 a.m on Monday, Jan. 20. to take part in the 14th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Peace Walk, Parade and Health Fair.
5. MLK Jr. Family Program
Smithsonian's Anacostia Community Museum will be hosting a workshop based on King's ideals, led by art educator, Alma Robinson. The event will take place on Saturday, Jan 18. at 11 a.m.
Join The Prince George's African American Museum and Culture Center for food, performances, a keynote speech, children's book reading on Monday, Jan. 20 at 11 a.m.
