Did you know about 30% of 16-19 year old young adults are working throughout the summer? Our partners at JPMorgan Chase, earlier this year donated $20 Million Dollars across the United States to support summer youth employment programs.

Guy Lambert sat down with a local DC teen Marques Jackson who benefited from the JPMorgan Chase program. As a result of this program, Marques said he learned the importance of time management. Like most teens, summer jobs provide teens with the opportunity to cover expenses throughout the
school year, or it gives them the opportunity to just save up for something special. In Marque’s case his goal was to save for a special gift for his mom.

Daniel Okonkwo, the Eastern Regional Lead for Corporate Responsibility for JPMorgan Chase, states that one thing that the company has learned in investing in communities across the country, is that we need to be investing in the younger generation. This type of involvement helps to expose them to the potential careers that are available. Marques is the perfect example of how JPMorgan Chase strives to improve and empower the lives of youth, especially in the African American community.
JPMorgan Chase’s key initiative is to provide an experience to our youth that they may not always have access too.
