
The 2023 BET Awards just passed and some of our Audacy favs traveled to LA to catch up with various artists to discuss the importance of Hip-Hop and it's 50th anniversary being celebrated, upcoming projects, and the artists that inspire them. It's all part of Audacy's Hip-Hop Made, celebrating the first 50 years of Hip-Hop.

Master P

Greg Street of V-103 Atlanta chopped it up with Master P, reminiscing on the start of Master P's career. "This man broke a lot of my records," P said, talking about Greg, "I gotta' salute you," he told him. "Without him believing in our music a lot of these stations wouldn't even play our records because they thought it was country," the "Bout It, Bout It" rapper shared.

Master P showed his appreciation for Greg because back in the day, radio stations, especially in the south "didn't believe in Master P," according to Greg. As they talked about his struggles to the top, he said "it was a lot of failure, so I had failed so much so don't just think its gone happen over night."
Lady London

102 Jamz's Big Mo and Roxie caught up with Lady London! A jack of all trades, she is a rapper, writer, author, poet, and is most famously known for the freestyles she's released on Instagram that has helped her organically garner her fan base.

She originally got into making music after she posted a video of her reciting her poetry and it was interpreted as rap. The video garnered 8.7 million views and ultimately drove her to rapping. She says now she makes music for "all the boss women, all the men that aren't threatened by that, all the boss alpha men in the world, people that know exactly who they are in the world," she said, "that's my demographic."
Aside from writing rhymes for herself, she did reveal that she has written for "quite a few" artists, but she has signed some NDAs so she couldn't namedrop.
Moneybagg Yo

Moneybagg Yo stopped by to talk about the importance of Hip-Hop to our culture with V-103 Atlanta legend, Greg Street.

Celebrating 50 years of Hip-Hop, with a spectacular Hip-Hop tribute at the BET Award show, the "Wockesha" rapper said "shoutout to Hip-Hop, Hip-Hop was a big part of my career."
"I feel like you need Hip-Hop, you need music in your life," he told Street.
Jay Rock

Tapping in with "WIN" rapper, Jay Rock, Big Mo and Roxie talk about the creation behind his most sought after single, his creation process, and who currently has his ear musically.

GRAMMY-nominated single, "WIN," was inspired by real events happening in the rapper's life. "I made that song because a n**** took so many losses in his life, it's time to win," he said. Now while it has been a minute since he's released a project, he says that he "likes to make quality music" and wants to create a "album with no skips," so he genuinely takes his time with his projects.
As far as music today, he has been binging Killer Mike's latest album, Michael.
DaBaby

Sitting down with Greg Street of V-103 Atlanta, DaBaby talked about his new venture in directing and the memories that made him fall in love with Hip-Hop.

"I'm knee deep in that," the "SHAKE SUMN" rapper said as he is stepping into new paths as a video director.
When asked what song made him fall in love with Hip-Hop, he struggled with answering as he is inspired by so many people past and present, "I been studying and pulling inspiration from artist from generation and generation and generation and generations... even including the era of music from before me," he said.
Rich The Kid

The artists "who broke the Migos," Rich the Kid, chopped it up with Greg Street to talk his latest project set to release soon and his excitement for the BET Awards.

"I got an EP coming out next month," Rich told Greg, "I just been wrapping it up getting ready for it," he said. Listen to the audio above to hear what artists he was looking forward to see the most.
Too Short

A self-proclaimed trailblazer, Too Short, reminisced about the early parts of his career with Greg Street.

The West Coast rap legend shared that there is a certain "pride" he feels as he grew up with Hip-Hop and started his career at the same time things began to kick-off. "The first time I ever sold a tape was 1982... by '85 I was in the studio making records," he said.
He also experienced watching the Atlanta Hip-Hop scene grow and flourish, "I was also fortunate enough to show up in Atlanta in 1993 and watch the Atlanta Hip-Hop scene grow," he told Greg.
Toosii

Soaking up the joy of this being his first BET Award Show, Toosii joined Greg Street to share his excitement for the night.

While he had no expectations for the show he was super excited to be in attendance for the first time, "I'm excited to see what's going up," he said.
