After divulging that it was actually a fan that bestowed him with the term
T R A P S O U L over 7 years ago, which Tiller ended up using to as the title for his debut album. Followed by discussing whether R&B is “dead, alive, on life support, or flourishing,” Bryson got to talking about his recent collab with Diddy“Gotta Move On.”

Originally making the song for himself in 2018, Bryson “gave it to my little brother to listen to, and he just started sending it out to people. Next thing you know the song leaks, I’m pissed at my little brother," Tiller said.

Adding, "actually I hated my little brother… because at that time I was really insecure about my music and I just didn’t want nobody to hear nothing.” After that, the track sat around for four years, then out of the blue, Tiller gets “a call from Diddy to come to Malibu, and for whatever reason I get there and there’s a dry erase board with my song on the board.”

After his initial confusion, things get cleared up when Diddy tells Tiller “how he fell in love with song, and how he’d been listening to it, and I was just like ‘wow,’ and he wanted to use it for his album, so I was like ‘absolutely.’”

To bring the story full circle, Bryson noted how he and Diddy “called his brother right then and there.” Thanking him for the track leak, but reprimanding him to never do it again.

Bryson also expanded more on his past musical insecurities, saying,
"At that time, 2018, I was just super depressed… we had just dropped something that wasn’t critically received well. And I just wasn’t really in a great headspace for making music. At that time, every time I went into the studio I hated everything I said, I hated the sound of my voice, I hated just everything. So it took me a minute to get back to where I’m at right now,” which is “more confident than ever.”

Bryson and the morning show crew also went on to talk about juggling a career and daddy duties before moving the conversation over to his brand new single, “Outside.”

Admittedly serving up a different sound with his latest single, Bryson shared, “I’m been doing this stuff by myself for a long time. Just me in the studio, and honestly I was just getting bored with music.” Choosing to opt out of putting in time in the studio this time around, and instead be given different musical offerings to work with.  Which is exactly how “Outside,” came about.

Excited about how “opposite” it was from his usual sound, he noted “I wanted to start this album role-out off with that.”

The conversation continued from there, with Bryson sharing a list of artists who he admires and have influenced his career, plus much more. To hear it all listen to both interview clips above, and also check out Bryson’s brand new single “Outside” below.
