Before “Hrs & Hrs” put her on the map as a solo artist, Muni Long had been releasing music and doing behind-the-scenes songwriting for years. Describing the difference between what it was like for her then versus now, Muni said, “It's really not that much difference… the way that I describe is like — you ever been late to church, and you walk in and everybody turn around an look at you — it feels like that all the time.”

“It just feels like, okay I been here this whole time, but now you guys are watching me," she continued. "Internally it feels pretty much the same,” but now she’s “just smiling a lot and talking to a lot of people.”

Not feeling any pressure when it comes to her upcoming project, Muni expressed, “I just do what I love… every day I get to wake up and do what I love… and that’s all it’s about. Me expressing myself, not necessarily trying to be anything that I’ve done before or compete with anyone else or even myself.”

Muni also went on to answer a fan's question, revealing to the caller that her inspiration behind “Hrs & Hrs” was mainly “just love.”

Similarly her new track is all about love as well, “I’m a lover, not a fighter” Long told Tigger. “Really at my core I’m just all about love, and sometimes just live in this fairytale world,” and completely enthralled by romance, Muni’s new song “Made For Me,” she said “is just another perspective, more spiritual.”

Also addressing some speculation based on the “perfume” lyric from her new song, as well as the particular spelling of “Hrs & Hrs,” Muni expressed her thoughts and feeling about the suspicions of her belonging to the LGBTQ+ community. Happily married to a man, Muni has no issues what so ever with people thinking what they want, but as far as what’s true, she’s not a lesbian.

Long also explained what it was like to collaborate with Babyface and John Legend, saying “both of them are so amazing just as humans.” Going on to praise John, whom she met during a writing session when she was 18 years old, “he has treated me the exact same since that day… he’s just a beautiful human.”

“People like him and Babyface… they are examples that you can be a genuine person and be super successful. You can treat people fairly, you can pay people what they weigh, and the result is a beautiful experience that I get to take with me, and a standard… I want to make sure anybody I collab with feels the same way about me that I felt about John and Babyface.”

Muni also went on to explain her choice to make her next project, an EP versus an album, and how she aims to make music that will last. To hear it all, listen to the entire interview above.
