The drought is over. Washington guard Brandon Scherff was announced as a first-team selection to the Associated Press' All-Pro Team, making him the organization's first first-team All-Pro selection since punter Matt Turk in 1996.

Scherff, a fifth-overall selection by Washington in 2015, is a first time recipient of this honor, snapping Washington's 24-year drought of first-team All-Pros en route to an NFC East championship, Washington's first division title since Scherff's rookie season. 2020 also marks Washington's first playoff appearance since 2015.

"Brandon's toughness, his consistency and then just the resiliency that he shows dealing with that injury early in the year, being able to come back," said Washington offensive coordinator Scott Turner. "He's just been a steady rock. Him and Morgan [Moses] playing on that right side together — obviously, Morgan moved over to left tackle for the Dallas game. Those guys working together, playing together, and then obviously Chase [Roullier] at center. Those are the leaders up front for us. They've done a great job, Brandon in particular. He brings it every day. He's the same guy, the toughness, the blue-collar mentality. It helps, energizes and drives our team."

In addition to being named a first-team All-Pro, Scherff was named to his fourth Pro Bowl in 2020, playing and starting in 13 of Washington's games in 2020. He joins Trent Williams, Chris Samuels, Len Hauss, Joe Jacoby and Russ Grimm as the only offensive linemen in franchise history to earn four Pro Bowl selections.

According to Washington PR, Scherff has only been penalized twice in 2020, tying his 2017 season for the fewest penalties of his career. His last penalty came in Washington's Week 9 loss to the Giants.

Scherff played this season on the franchise tag and is set to become a free agent at the conclusion of Washington's playoff run.
