The 2024 CRAZIES Awards brought the heat to Foxwoods Resort Casino, celebrating the very best of Connecticut’s food and hospitality industry.

What a night it was with new winners from across the state:

Bar Rosina in Greenwich brought home the top spot as restaurant of the year while Chef David Standridge from Shipwright’s Daughter in Mystic was named Chef of the Year.

Chef has now brought home the hardware twice this year after winning Top Chef Northeast at the James Beard Awards, the Oscars of food for the US.

Gioia Cafe & Bar in New Haven made the map in the Foodie Capital of New England as top newcomer.

Eli Hawli & Sam DeVellis were named Restaurateurs of the Year, running an empire of 16 restaurants including names like Mercado and Marketplace. Talk about hustle!

Abbott’s Lobster in the Rough and Red Rock Tavern were inducted into the Hospitality Hall of Fame—absolute legends!

Even Governor Ned Lamont took the stage, reminding everyone that Connecticut’s hospitality industry powers 10% of all jobs in the state.

Not just serving plates—serving our economy!

Congrats to all the winners—and if you haven’t checked out these places yet, what are you waiting for?

Go taste what makes Connecticut delicious!

And with nearly a week to go until Christmas, Connecticut is brimming with holiday cheer! Here are just a few ways you can celebrate this weekend as you countdown to the big day:
For starters, head to the Fantasy of Lights at Lighthouse Point Park in New Haven for a spectacular drive-thru holiday light show. It’s one of Connecticut’s most popular holiday lights displays and features scenic views of the Long Island Sound. Plus, all proceeds from the Fantasy of Lights will go toward Goodwill of Southern New England.

There’s also Winterfest at Bushnell Park in Hartford. It’s a beloved holiday tradition that offers free ice skating, free skate rentals, free learn-to-skate classes and more. Plus, while you are in the area, hit up Pratt Street for a bite to eat or to get some last-minute gift shopping done.

Don't miss Magic of Lights at Pratt & WHitney Stadium at Rentschler Field in East Hartford.  This Drive-thru Light Display includes Candy Cane Lane, the 12 Days of Christmas and more!  When purchasing your tickets online, use Give Back Code CT BIGS to make a donation to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Connecticut!  www.magicoflights.com

Or head to Lake Compounce in Bristol for its Holiday Lights celebration. If you haven’t been already, it’s worth a trip! The amusement park completely transforms to a winter wonderland. See the largest Christmas tree in Connecticut—standing at 100 feet tall. There is also a variety of activities and entertainment including visits with Santa, holiday rides, a dazzling light show, snowflake village, and new for this year— Connecticut Yuletide Carolers.

Happy holidays and New Year, Connecticut!
