Black-Eyed Sally’s on Asylum Street in Hartford brings the blues to its restaurant year-round with weekly concerts, jams and special events. Once a year, the blues expand and shift to nearby Bushnell Park. This year’s Black-Eyed and Blues Festival takes place on Sunday 3-11pm with an extraordinary lineup of Connecticut’s own legendary R&B-belting “Beehive Queen” Christine Ohlman, the iconic James Montgomery Band, plus Solomon Hicks, the Patty Tuite Band and Carl Ricci & 706 Union Ave. This event is FREE. The Brass City Jazz Festival is Saturday 4-10pm in Waterbury.  This year, they are proud to present Billboard #1 Charting Artists Dr. Adam Hawley (guitarist, producer) and Marqueal Jordan (saxophonist, vocalist), Carol Riddick (jazzy soul vocalist) and CT's own Jay Rowe (keyboardist, songwriter) it all takes place at Library Park on Grand St. in downtown Waterbury. (Brass Bonanza Playing) It’s the annual Hartford Yard Goat’s Whaler Alumni Game Saturday at 6pm at Dunkin Park in Hartford!  Stop by the Main Gate from 5-6pm to enter to win a Whaler Prize Pack including a Totem Pole, Whaler Gnome and $100 gift card to Black Eyed Sallys.  No Purchase Necessary!  You can also grab some station freebies with Mike and Mary!  The Yard Goats battle the Fighting Phils Friday at 7pm and Sunday at 1pm.

Lyman Orchards in Middlefield is opening its annual sunflower maze this weekend. This year’s theme is Sesame Street – a fun activity for the kiddos. Here you can navigate your way through a maze of over 350,000 blooming yellow, red, and orange sunflowers. Spooky Popcorn is a free outdoor horror movie festival held annually in downtown Hartford.  Horror movie fans enjoy outdoor showings on Constitution Plaza on Saturday evenings from July through August and are encouraged to bring snacks, blankets, and chairs.  These events are free! This Saturday it’s Candyman.
