The Talcott Mountain Music Festival concludes tonight at 7:30pm with Ben Folds and the Hartford Symphony Orchestra under the stars at Simsbury Meadows! Black-Eyed Sally’s on Asylum Street in Hartford brings the blues to its restaurant year-round with weekly concerts, jams and special events. Once a year, the blues expand and shift to nearby Bushnell Park. This year’s Black-Eyed and Blues Festival takes place on Sunday 3-11pm with an extraordinary lineup of Connecticut’s own legendary R&B-belting “Beehive Queen” Christine Ohlman, the iconic James Montgomery Band, plus Solomon Hicks, the Patty Tuite Band and Carl Ricci & 706 Union Ave. This event is FREE. The 30th annual Litchfield Jazz Festival opens tonight at 5:45 p.m.
with a concert featuring student “Jazz Campers” and the Emmet Cohen Trio at the Frederick Gunn School at 22 Kirby Road in Washington. Saturday features three big concerts: The Matt Dwonszyk Sextet at 3 p.m., the guitar duo of Pasquale Grasso and Frank Vignola at 4:45 p.m. and the clarinetist/saxophonist Anat Cohen Quartetinho at 6 p.m. The festival concludes Sunday with the traditional Sunday Jazz Brunch where you eat food prepared by chef Charlene Dutka while listening to pianist/vocalist Champian Fulton and her trio. The Connecticut Pickle Festival is New England's largest pickle event of the year featuring a Pickle Patch showcasing pickle samples throughout the country!  Walk the festival grounds dancing and taking pictures with guests and friends while sipping on pickle martinis and pickle shots! Enjoy Sunflowers for Wishes at Buttonwood Farm in Griswold running through Sunday. This annual fundraiser gives visitors the opportunity to stroll the farm’s fields of over 300,000 sunflowers and pick their own bouquet. The best part? The Bushnell Park Carousel is waiting to greet your family!  Bring your kids, or don't. You definitely don't need an excuse to ride the historic 1914 Stein & Goldstein Carousel because it is beautiful! The best seat in the house is on a horse named Freedom.  Open weather permitting noon to 5pm.
