Events:

Celebrate Women's History Month with “Museum’s on Us” Saturday and Sunday 10am to 5pm at New Britain Museum of American Art, 53 Lexington Street, New Britain.  Presented by 2020/20+ Women @ NBMAA Initiative Celebrating the Impact of Female-Identifying Artists throughout American History.  Bank of America credit and debit cardholders can receive FREE general admission to the New Britain Museum of American Art this weekend.  Current exhibitions on view include: Helen Frankenthaler: Late Works, 1990-2003 and NEW/NOW: Shantell Martin.  If you are not a Bank of America cardholder, enjoy a FREE Saturday Morning at the New Britain Museum of American Art, 10am to noon.  Timed admission and reservations are required.  www.nbmaa.org

The New England Air Museum in Windsor Locks hosts the Flights of Fun Family Programs offering social distanced activities for families on Saturdays and Sundays 10am to 4pm including Flight Science Demonstrations, the Investigation Station, and take-home versions of our popular Build and Fly Challenges. Additional activities include QR Code Tours, Scavenger Hunts, and opportunities for visitors to peek inside select aircraft cockpits. The Galleries at WORK_SPACE have extended the PERSPECTIVES OF A PANDEMIC exhibit which showcases 150 pieces of art created between March – November 2020 by 45 ‘local’ artists between Brooklyn and Boston. Open on weekdays from 10a – 4pm and by appointment, this free exhibit includes photography, fiber art, painting, poetry, and other mediums the artists used to comment on Covid-19, respond to the injustice of structural racism, react to the contentiousness of politics, and to fill time in quarantine. The Carousel Museum and Museum of Fire History, 95 Riverside Avenue, Bristol are open to the public and offer free FREE general admission to visitors that live in the cities of Bristol and Burlington through December 31, 2021. Residents should be prepared to show and ID or proof or residence. This was made possible by the museums receiving grants from local foundations.  General admission includes guided tours at noon and 2:00 PM during public hours and one carousel ride per person. Additional carousel rides are $1 each or $3 for an unlimited ride bracelet. Presently masks are required for all visitors over the age of 2.   Other towns may make a reservation online or visit the Museum for ticket prices and special events.  www.thecarouselmuseum.org

Drumroll, please! The Hartford Symphony Orchestra Spotlight Series is a brand-new way to experience the HSO – and this month, we put the spotlight on our percussion section!
