(Bloomfield, Conn./WTIC) - Police in Bloomfield say one person is dead following a Thursday night crash that involved five vehicles.
Just before 7:30, officers were dispatched to the area of Simsbury Road (Route 185) and Penwood Road near the Simsbury/Bloomfield line.
Three people were reported injured, including a 70-year-old man, driving a 2014 Hyundai, who had life threatening injuries.
He was later pronounced dead at St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center.
Two of the other drivers in the crash sustained less serious injuries and were also treated at St. Francis.
Police say a preliminary investigation shows the driver of the Hyundai crossed the yellow line while traveling east on Simsbury Road and collided with an oncoming vehicle.
That initial crash also caused secondary crashes involving three other vehicles, according to police.
