HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC) - Public reaction has been swift after word that the Lamont administration has been exploring extending the state's sales tax to groceries.

On Wednesday the Governor insisted that no decisions have been made. He said his budget office is considering all options, and is not just looking at the revenue side of the budget, but also spending cuts and restructuring healthcare expenses.

Lamont said his plans will solidify in about three weeks, when the first budget proposal must be submitted to lawmakers.

The state faces a projected deficit of around one and a half billion dollars next year.
