(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - Police in Hartford have made an arrest in the first homicide of the new year.
Officers are charging 45-year-old John Bolton in connection with the shooting death of 29-year-old Carl Spence on January 8.
According to police, they were alerted to gunfire in the area of 241 Laurel Street that night.
Spence was found in the basement of the building suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
He was transported to St. Francis Hospital and Medical Center where he was later pronounced dead.
Bolton is being held on a $1 million bond, facing charges of murder, criminal use of a firearm, and criminal possession of a firearm.
He's due to be arraigned Tuesday in Hartford Superior Court.
