(Baltic, Conn./WTIC) - A golfer is recovering after being attacked by a bobcat at a golf course in Baltic today.
State Department of Environmental Protection officials say the cat attacked the golfer after first attacking a horse around 8:00.
A member of the victim's team was able to fight off the cat.
It was put down and will be tested for rabies.
The man was taken to a hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
Experts say bobcats and shy and secretive by nature and the attack are extremely rare.
The last reported bobcat attack in Connecticut took place in August of 2014 in Bozrah.
