(Bridgeport, Conn./WTIC) - The General Assembly is mourning the loss of one of its own.
Bridgeport State Represenative Ezequiel Santiago has died at the age 45.
The "Connecticut Post" reports the lawmaker died last night from a heart attack.
In a statement today, Governor Ned Lamont praised Santiago as a "man who loved public service and his hometown of Bridgeport".
Lamont has also directed all state flags to be flown at half-staff in honor of Santiago.
Santiago served on the legislature's Appropriations, Commerce, and Banking Committees, the latter of which he was co-chair.
