(New London, Conn./WTIC) - The investigation is continuing in New London after police say a toddler was discovered wandering city streets early this morning.
Officers say a motorist spotted the little one by himself in the area of Montauk and Willetts Avenues a little after 4:00 a.m.
The motorist watched over the toddler and, finding no one, contacted police. Officers and New London fire personnel arrived at the scene a short time later.
As a precaution, the youngster was taken to Lawrence and Memorial Hospital for evaluation and the state Department of Children and Families was notified.
Police canvassed the area and tracked down the child's sleeping parents in their Crescent Street home.
Investigators say despite the parents best efforts to secure the home, the child was able to somehow slip out.
The parents and the child were later reunited at the hospital.
