MERIDEN, Conn. (WTIC) - State police are poised to launch a recruitment effort to bolster their ranks.

Almost one in two state troopers will be eligible to retire over the next four years. With that in mind, State Police have scheduled a recruitment informational session for next Wednesday to give potential candidates the chance to hear directly from troopers about what to expect.

Trooper Kelly Grant says details about the physical fitness assessment, academy life, physical training, and overall job preparation will all be discussed.

The session is planned to be informal, giving potential candidates the opportunity to speak with troopers one-on-one or in small groups.

It's scheduled to take place from 6 to 8pm on March 6th at the Connecticut police academy in Meriden.
