CSP Release New Year's Enforcement Stats

(Middletown, Conn./WTIC) - State Police have released numbers from their recently concluded New Year's enforcement detail.

Troopers say speeding and seatbelt violations were down this year from last, with DUI arrests up.

There were 480 tickets issued for speeding.

Fourteen were written up for not wearing a seatbelt, compared with 20 last year, according to CSP.  

Troopers say 36 were arrested on DUI charges, up from 28 last year. 

Crashes were down from 494 in 2018 to 339 this year.

There were 54 injuries, the same as last New Year's.

State Police say there were no fatalities on state road this year but they did assume the investigation into a fatal crash in Hamden.

The numbers cover the period from December 29 through midnight New Year's Day.
