HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC) - Legalizing recreational pot in Connecticut could generate up to $70 million in tax revenue in the first year and more than $150 million in the years after according to state Senate Democrats.

Hartford Senator Doug McCrory insists any effort to legalize must include a social justice component. According to him, that would include expungement of records for those arrested in the past.

"Why should we still incarcerate people for something that's legal now? That millionaires can get, that can be sold on the stock market?... If somebody from my neighbor was selling, they were going to jail."

Governor Lamont has called legalization a legislative priority.
