(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - New data on influenza activity released by the state Department of Public Health shows two additional deaths since the last DPH report. 

That brings to six, the number of deaths attributed to the flu this season, dating back to last August.


DPH says five of the deaths were linked to influenza A and one to influenza B.

Four of the deaths involved patients aged 65 and older, one between 50 and 64 and one between 25 and 49.

So far, DPH is reporting 1,039 positive flu tests.

In addition, 377 patients required hospitalization.

The department says the vast majority, 333 cases were of the type A variety.
