(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - The state Department of Public Health reports three additional deaths attributed to influenza so far this year.

That brings to 14, the number who have died from flu during the current season which began in August.

DPH reports of those who have died, nine were aged 65 or older, four were between the ages of 49-and-64, and one person was 25-to-49-years of age. Department officials do say there was a slight decrease in emergency department visits for "fever/flu syndrome" to 10.6-percent.  That's down three-tenths of a percent from the week prior.

Just shy of 2,500 lab tests were positive for flu activity through last Saturday, says DPH.

Of those, 690 were in Hartford County, 675 in New Haven County, and 166 in New London County.

Tolland County logged the fewest cases at 52.
