HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC) - Governor Lamont has softened the language of a proposal that called for school redistricting and consolidation.

Governor Ned Lamont has modified his school consolidation proposal, a controversial plan that he says would allow local public school districts to share resources, ideas, and efforts with one another.

The revised bill that he submitted on Wednesday takes into consideration a number of his constituents who aren't interested in consolidating and don't want to be forced into it.

As part of his revised bill, a commission on shared school services would be created to develop recommendations for sharing school services among other districts. Under his original proposal, the commission would have developed a plan for redistricting and consolidation.
