GRISWOLD, Conn. (WTIC) - It's the announcement that opponents of a state police gun range proposed for Griswold have been longing to hear.

Governor Ned Lamont made the announcement this afternoon that the state no longer plans to put the range in Griswold. Lamont says his administration, working with the Commissioner of Public Safety, will do a complete analysis of what the best location for a new gun range would be.

The battle over Griswold has been raging for years. The state, under the Malloy administration, had sought to relocate the range from Simsbury to Griswold, saying that the current location is antiquated and prone to flooding.
