(Hamden, Conn./WTIC) - Some might call a person who'd tamper with a marked police vehicle in broad daylight a real "airhead".
A Hamden man is accused of tampering with the vehicle of a town police officer.
On Saturday, police say an officer was called to check out a shoplifting incident at a Walmart.
Police say as the officer was conferring inside the store with a loss prevention officer, 35-year-old Ryan Kiekel of Hamden attempted to let the air out of a tire of the marked cruiser of the responding officer.
Investigators say a witness alerted them to the incident.
Kiekel booked on a charge of tampering with a motor vehicle and is due in court in Meriden July 19.
Officers didn't say what compelled Kiekel to allegedly let the air out of the tire of a vehicle clearly marked Hamden Police.
