HARTFORD, Conn. (WTIC) - This Spring, Hartford will play host to the International Space Trade Summit. Participating nations, dubbed the Five Eyes allied countries-- the U.S., UK, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand-- will take part.
The three day conference offers participants a chance to swap ideas in manufacturing, business, and commercial opportunities in the aerospace industry. Former astronaut and Manchester native Dan Burbank, a Senior Technical Fellow at Collins Aerospace, says Connecticut plays a crucial part in the industry.
"Every manned spacecraft that has ever flown has had hardware that's developed right here in Windsor Locks. We've had content in every space suit since the Gemini program. Our life support systems are what kept John Glenn alive as he first orbited Earth, they're what enabled Neil Armstrong's first steps on the moon."
The summit takes place from May 19th through the 21st.
