(Ansonia, Conn./WTIC) - A man is charged after Ansonia Police launched an investigation into a sexual assault case involving a minor.
Investigators say they received the report last Friday.
During the course of their investigation, police say 38-year-old Mauredson Chaves was identified as a suspect.
He was later arrested with the help of police in Bridgeport.
According to detectives, Chaves had a packed suitcase and his passport on him at the time of the arrest.
He was taken into custody without incident as he attempted to enter Interstate 95.
Chaves faces charges of first degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a minor.
Bond was set at $500,000.
