(Fairfield, Conn./WTIC) - Fairfield Police have made an arrest in connection with a crash that left one of their own injured.
Forty-nine-year-old James Crowther is facing a number of charges.
It was just before 11:00 p.m. January 20 when officers say they began receiving reports of a serious two-vehicle crash on Kings Highway Cutoff and New England Avenue.
Police say Crowther's vehicle hit an officer's off-duty vehicle as that officer was headed to work. Both were transported to area hospitals.
Investigators say Crowther was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Kings Highway Cutoff at the time of the crash.
They also say tests showed Crowther's blood alcohol level was three times the legal limit.
He turned himself in to face charges of DUI, driving on the wrong side of the road, and failure to obtain a Connecticut drivers license within 30 days of residing in the state.
Bond was set at $25,000 and Crowther is due in court February 19.
