(Portland, Conn./WTIC) - A man is facing a slew of charges in connection with a domestic violence assault over the weekend in Portland.
It was just before 1:00 a.m. Sunday that Portland police say 27-year-old Andrew Johnson of Milford forced his way into the apartment of a woman he'd once dated by climbing through a window.
Officers say Johnson pointed a loaded gun at the victim, choked the her to the point of passing out, and assaulted her.
Police say the victim fled the residence and ran to the Portland Police Department.
Johnson was captured by police as he left the apartment.
They say he had two firearms and several loaded magazines on him when he was arrested.
Johnson is facing charges including home invasion, strangulation, unlawful restraint, reckless endangerment and threatening, among others.
Bond was set at $500,000, pending arraignment in Middletown Superior Court.
