MERIDEN, Conn. (WTIC) – An arrest has been made in a shooting last month that nearly took the victim’s life.
29-year old Justin Diaz has been arrested in connection with the April 19th shooting on South First Street in Meriden. The charges include Assault in the first degree, carrying a pistol without a permit, unlawful discharge of a firearm and criminal use of a firearm.
Six days ago, the Meriden Police Department posted a Facebook message asking for the community’s assistance in locating Diaz.
Today it was announced that Diaz was arrested in Bronx, NY. Meriden’s Crime Suppression and Major Crimes Unit, along with the NYPD Violent Fugitive Task Force, made the arrest.
Diaz will remain in New York custody, as Meriden officials are making the final arrangements for his extradition.
