SIMSBURY, Conn. (WTIC) - The Greater Hartford NAACP wants Simsbury residents and members of the civil rights group to attend tonight's Board of Education meeting, to express concern over a blackface incident.
Maxien Robinson-Lewin, president of the NAACP Hartford branch, says not enough has been done in the wake of a social media photo that surfaced earlier in February, showing two Simsbury high school girls who appear to be in blackface. She accused the school administration of minimizing the issue, and failing to take proper disciplinary action.
Simsbury's Superintendent Matthew Curtis said the girls apologized and were disciplined.
The Board of Education meeting takes place tonight at 7pm in the Town Offices Building.
