NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (WTIC) - New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart says she is embarrassed and mortified over a Facebook post by her father, former Mayor Tim Stewart, in which he disrespected women.
Under a Facebook photo of female Democratic representatives at last night's State of the Union address, the elder Stewart commented, comparing them to female dogs in heat.
Democratic Town Committee member and Common Council candidate Bobby Berriault says people are upset and offended, and claims Tim Stewart has a history of making demeaning comments toward groups of people.
Berriault says Stewart should step down from his post as president of the Greater New Britain Chamber of Commerce.
Multiple messages left for Stewart have gone unanswered.
