(New Britain, Conn./WTIC) - New Britain Mayor Erin Stewart has chosen the person she hopes will be the city's new police chief.
Stewart has chosen Acting Police Chief Christopher Chute to succeed the retired James Wardwell. He left the department in January after 25 years, including the last six as chief.
In making the appointment, Stewart called Chute a "man of integrity" who'll be an asset to the community.
Chute is a 23 year department veteran who has served in a variety of roles, including detective, sergeant, lieutenant, captain, and deputy chief.
The Common Council will consider Stewart's appointment at its Wednesday meeting.
