(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - The number of deaths due to influenza in Connecticut is now seven.
That's according to figures released today by the state Department of Public Health for the week ending last Saturday.
DPH says two people succumbed to the flu during that period.
The department says flu activity is widespread across Connecticut.
There were 194 hospitalizations reported last week, bringing to 472 the total number for the season.
Just over 16-hundred positive influenza tests were reported by DPH since the season began toward the end of August.
Experts say if residents haven received a flu shot yet, it's still not too late.
