(Watertown, Conn./WTIC) - Police in Watertown have arrested two men they say tried to fraudulently purchase a vehicle from a dealer in town. And they believe the two may be part of a larger car theft ring across the Northeast.
Detectives were tipped off on Friday at Honda of Watertown.
They say the two, Willie Baldayaquez of New Haven and Ruben Martinez of Wethersfield are charged.
Officers say the suspects attempted to leave the scene as passengers in an Uber.
They say the two gave them false names and further investigation determined they had multiple IDs from various states.
They also allegedly had two key fobs from a BMW along with another from BMW of Watertown.
Police say Baldayaquez was a deported felon wanted by ICE while Martinez had warrants for his arrest in New Jersey and Ohio.
Both suspects face multiple counts of forgery, larceny and identity theft.
