(Southington, Conn./WTIC) - The COVID-19 pandemic has claimed this year's Southington Apple Harvest Festival.
The festival has been a staple in the area every October for decades.
In a post on their web site, organizers say they made the difficult decision out of an abundance of caution, particularly in light of some forecasts that the virus could reemerge in the fall.
Organizers say social distancing obstacles, funding issues, and vendors and sponsors who can't commit due to the down economy were also primary culprits.
The say the plan is to return in 2021.
