(Hartford, Conn./WTIC) - The Board of Governors of the American Hockey League has voted to cancel the remainder of the 2019-2020 regular season.
The governors have also moved to cancel this year's Calder Cup Playoffs.
The league initially suspended play March 12 as a result of the coronavirus pandemic.
AHL president and CEO David Andrews said today in a statement “After a lengthy review process, the American Hockey League has determined that the resumption and completion of the 2019-20 season is not feasible in light of current conditions".
Andrews said the league will now focus on the 2020-21 season.
The league's standings and statistics as of March 12 are considered final and official.
