(Storrs, Conn./WTIC) - UConn women's basketball coach Geno Auriemma is resting comfortably after undergoing surgery on Wednesday.
The university says Auriemma was treated at John Dempsey Hospital for symptoms caused by diverticulitis.
The Hall of Fame coach will spend the next 2-3 days in the hospital before returning home to continue his recovery.
Associate Head Coach Chris Dailey will assume the head coaching duties in Auriemma's absence.
The Huskies next game is Sunday against Oklahoma in the Hall of Fame Showcase at Mohegan Sun Arena.
