Bat Tests Positive For Rabies in Lyme

LYME, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - A bat has tested positive for rabies on Friday in the town of Lyme, according to Ledge Light Health District or LLHD.

LLHD officials say the bat is from the area of Hamburg Road and remind residents to refrain from approaching or feeding any wild or stray animals.

The deadly disease can spread through scratches from infected animals or when infected saliva comes into contact with open wounds, breaks in the skin or the eyes, nose, mouth area.
