(Somers, Conn./WTIC) - State Police say a man is dead after crashing a car into a home overnight in Somers.

Around 2:45 this morning, troopers say they were called to the scene on Four Bridges Road.

Investigators say 21-year-old Kyle Mccahey was driving a 2007 Honda Accord at a high rate of speed, hitting a pair of mailboxes on the passenger side.

When the car swerved left, police say Mccahey overcompensated to the right and began going off the road.

The vehicle hit the house, causing it to shift from the foundation.

Mccahey was extricated, unresponsive, from the vehicle and later pronounced dead at Lawrence and Memorial Hospital.

Three people were evacuated from the home, which was deemed uninhabitable by the building inspector.
