(Norwich, Conn./WTIC) - Norwich police are reporting a change for this year's Thanksgiving high school football game between Norwich Free Academy and New London High School.
In a release from Norwich Police, officials from both cities say they met last week to discuss game safety.
Norwich police officials noted that due to recent conflicts from residents in the two cities, it was best to move the time of the game of the game up from its scheduled 6:30 p.m. kick-off.
The NFA/New London High School football game will now be played the day before Thanksgiving, November 27 at 1:00 p.m. at Turf Field.
Officials say there've been no specific threats and "enhanced" security measures will be in place.
The "Norwich Bulletin" reported over the summer the NFA/New London High School game is the oldest high school football rivalry in the country, dating back to 1875..
