(Ansonia, Conn./WTIC) - Ansonia police have charged a man and woman after receiving a call this morning of a two-year-old child atop the roof of a city residence.
Just before 9:00 a.m., officers say they were dispatched to the Main Street home where the child was found on the roof, 30 feet above ground.
Police say they forced entry into the home, after which an officer and a sergeant kept the child engaged so he wouldn't move around the roof.
Inside the home were the child's father, 23-year-old David Hustek and aunt, 20-year-old Sarah Barker.
Police say once Hustek was awoken, he was able to reach out a window and coax the child inside.
Hustek and Barker are each charged with risk of injury and reckless endangerment and are being held on $10,000 bonds.
The child was taken to an area hospital to get checked out but otherwise appeared to be okay, say police.
Investigators say the home was found to be in "deplorable" condition and has since been condemned by city building officials.
