(Cheshire, Conn./WTIC) - Cheshire police have released the name of a boy who was struck and killed by a vehicle during an ice cream run last Friday.

Ten-year-old Tristan Barhorst was from Wallingford.

Detectives say the boy went to get ice cream from a truck stopped on the side of Wiese Road before 8:00 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle operated by a 17 year old driver on his way back.

Barhorst was attempting the cross the street in front of the truck when he was struck by a Jeep Wrangler.

Officers and paramedics attempted first aid but the child later died at an area hospital.

No charges have been filed.

Police say the driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
