CHESHIRE, Conn. (WTIC Radio) - There will not be 11-on-11 high school football this fall in Connecticut, because of COVID-19.

The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference, which governs high school sports, says it cannot move forward with a full contact season without support from the State Department of Public Health.

The CIAC says it will explore lower risk options, such as 7-on-7 non-contact football.

Meantime, the conference says it will proceed with indoor girls volleyball by requiring that players wear masks.
